TyranoBuilder – Backlog Button in Menu

Thanks to jay_rab’s excellent guide here, I was able to add new buttons to the default menu in TyranoBuilder.

It’s not difficult, but requires careful editing of some files in your TyranoBuilder game’s project folders. So, to make it easier for those who just want to add a Backlog button to their menus (the subject of the above-mentioned guide and a popular feature request on the TyranoBuilder forums), I have attached my already-edited files below.

Also included is a rough attempt at a Backlog button matching the style of the default TyranoBuilder menu buttons. I wish I knew what font was used for the originals to match them better, though! 😦

To use these in your own TyranoBuilder project, just unzip the file inside your project folder, overwriting when asked.

Note that if you have already edited your menu.html, lang.js or kag.menu.js files, these will overwrite your changes… but if you already know how to do that, you probably don’t want or need my files anyway!

TyranoBuilder – Blank Default Buttons

This is just something I whipped up quickly to share with the TyranoBuilder community, to aid anyone wanting to make their own menu or UI buttons but keep the “default” style/appearance.

These button images are simple edits of the default menu buttons used by TyranoBuilder when creating a new project, so copyright for them remains the same as using any default elements provided by TyranoBuilder; i.e. they are usable in any project, commercial or otherwise, but that only applies to games made using TyranoBuilder.

Buttons:

ui_button_old_blank

menu_button_old_blank

menu_button_jp_blank

menu_button_blank

menu_button_tutorial_blank

Top to bottom: UI Button (pre-v1.7), Menu Button (pre-v1.7), Title Button (Japanese), Menu Button (v1.7+), Title Button (TB official tutorial).

To download, just right-click and “save as” the images above.

Although a very simple resource, hopefully these come in handy for some folks getting started with TyranoBuilder, which is a fairly intuitive “WYSIWYG” program for creating your own visual novel style games.

TyranoBuilder is available to buy (on Steam only, currently) here.
